Safety & privacy
Love should feel safe. Here is exactly how Twofold looks after you, written plainly, including the parts other apps leave out.
Serious only, and how we keep it that way
- Everyone takes the serious pledge when they join: a real relationship, honest about their status, and never asking anyone for money.
- Report anyone from their card, their profile, an introduction or a chat. Reporting blocks them straight away, and they are never told who reported them.
- If more than five different people report one account, it is paused at once and stays paused until a person on our team has reviewed it. The outcome is cleared, suspended for a while, or banned.
- Profiles nobody has used for two months are hidden, so the people you see are people who might answer.
Money and scams
- Nobody serious asks you for money, gift cards, a transfer or a loan before you have met. If someone does, it is almost always a scam.
- Twofold notices when a message asks for money and warns you right there in the chat, with a one-tap report.
- Meet first in a public place: a cafe, a mall, a busy restaurant. Tell a friend where you are going.
- A green Number confirmed badge means that member has proved their phone number is theirs.
What we do with your photos
- They are never public. Discovery shows a character you pick, not a face.
- They have no shareable address. Every image is served only to the one person you sent it to, and only while that chat is alive.
- Nothing is cached, not by your browser, not by us.
- We strip the location tags your camera adds, so a photo cannot give away where you live.
- When a chat ends, a no, an unmatch, a block, the files are deleted from disk, not just hidden.
What we cannot do
We cannot stop a screenshot. No website can. Your phone or computer takes the picture and never asks the page for permission. Blocking it needs a native app, and on iPhone even that is impossible, the best a native app gets is a notification after the fact.
We have turned off saving, dragging and long-press downloads, and photos blur when you switch away. That is friction, not a guarantee. Nobody can stop someone photographing their own screen with a second phone. Send what you would be comfortable with someone keeping.
Why there is no ID check
We do not ask for a passport, a selfie or a confirmation email, because collecting identity documents creates a database worth stealing. What we check at signup is only that you are a person and not a script. That keeps bulk fake accounts out, and it does not prove any individual is who they say they are. Treat everyone here the way you would treat a stranger, because that is what they are.
Meeting someone
- First meeting in public, somewhere busy, in daylight.
- Tell a friend where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- Arrange your own transport, both ways.
- Nobody who is genuine will push you to move to another app, send money, or meet somewhere private straight away.
If something is wrong
Every chat has unmatch, block and report one tap away. Reporting also blocks them immediately, you are never left exposed while we look.
Money requests are the single most common scam here. Links, phone numbers and handles are held back until a conversation is a few messages in, for exactly that reason. If someone asks you for money, report them.
